I’ve been experimenting with variations of this recipe for over a month now. I absolutely love it! It’s a complete breakfast with lots of greens, protein, healthy fats and even coffee!!! I used organic frozen greens in this recipe since I poured hot espresso into the mix. You can use fresh greens, but be sure to chill your coffee before adding it in (a hot green smoothie doesn’t go down so smooth!).
Green Coffee Smoothie
1 cup frozen kale
1 cup frozen spinach
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 shots of espresso + 1/2 cup water OR 1 cup of coffee
1 scoop chocolate beef protein powder (from Designs for Health) – if you do not have this last ingredient, I recommend adding more banana, stevia or honey to balance out the bitterness of the greens and coffee.
Blend all ingredients together and enjoy!
Tip: If you enjoy a thick and creamy smoothie then add less water to the mix. More water is required for a smoothie that is less thick. Always best to start with less water and then add more if need be.
